Welcome to the landing page for Grace Landing Kauai, an incubator for conscious development personally and collectively.

We are an intentional community and hub supporting both short and long term residents as well as extended community members and visitors to Kauai in the spirit of SOCIAL PERMACULTURE.

Our long-term vision is to develop an expanded land-based learning and healing center ecovillage in Kauai (and potentially other satellite locations as well). We call our current location an “incubator” as it is a small prototype for the larger vision. That said, it is actually a perfect embodiment of social permaculture principles such as:

• LEAST CHANGE FOR GREATEST EFFECT
  We were able to lease this property with very low start-up costs and overhead in contrast to the 7-figure start-up/operating costs anticipated for the future center

• USE ONSITE RESOURCES
  So far we have converted this “2-bedroom” to have 5 “bedrooms”, and we have more than doubled the outdoor living space using mostly reclaimed and all-natural materials

• WASTE IS FOOD
  In addition to using reclaimed materials such as driftwood that was covering the beaches from Kauai’s 2018 floods, this property was very run-down when we signed the lease but we saw that as an opportunity to invest ourselves in making it better which we’ve consistently done as a labor of love ~ focusing on the social capital it provides for ourselves, the owner, the neighbors, and Kauai as a whole (in contrast to an entitlement-paradigm that a lot of renters have)

• DESIGN FOR DIVERSITY AND RESILIENCE
  While we ultimately imagine having a center that is surrounded by nature with privacy, our current location in a suburban neighborhood close enough to walk/bike/bus to both nature trails and town supports us to increase the accessibility for people from diverse backgrounds to engage at Grace Landing while lowering the ecological footprint of transportation to/from our location/offerings

What is social permaculture?

Permaculture is a design science that mimics nature. It’s a way of designing to maximize the collective benefit while eliminating waste.

In a social context this means maximizing each of our collective potential while healing any dis-ease/inefficiencies etc. based on the permaculture principle “the problem is the solution”… Like compost, we alchemize pain on a social level as fertilizer for the growth of the ecosystem.

Healing personally and collectively

We are an incubator for social innovations to support healing personally and collectively which means that everyone who engages with Grace Landing is part of the experiment.

Grace Landing was founded by Lotus Sattva MA, a pioneer of social permaculture who has been innovating land-based social technologies since the turn of the century (Lotus is also the founder of WESOURCE).

Lotus plays the role of a pollinator and mushroom in social permaculture ~ her role is to help cross-pollinate the genius of different people and solutions in a way that increases the abundance and fertility of individuals and the group. As a mushroom, she has been growing an “underground” network of connections across the planet that have the capacity to alchemize the toxicity of the old paradigm through the growth and fruiting of the New Earth.
